Welcome to Bucktown Chicago

Nestled alongside beautiful Lake Michigan and near the center of Chicago, you will find historic Bucktown. It is rumored that this quaint neighborhood got its name from the goats that the polish population raised here in the early 1800′s. Most of these goats were males, or “bucks”. In the late 1800′s, Charles and Joel Wicker donated 4 acres to the city for a public park. Today this park is known as Wicker Park and is a major area centered in the middle of Bucktown.

Bucktown Chicago

Bucktown Chicago offers a wide variety of activities to keep both the young and old occupied. One of the more popular of these activities is the shopping. Buckhead shopping offers a large selection of different stores for just about any type of individual. From young professionals to mothers-to-be, the options are endless. If your in the market for some eclectic jewelry, trendy bags or maybe a body piercing, try The Silver Room on Milwaukee Avenue. Afterwards, travel down the block to Language, a boutique that offers clothing for the new age rock princess and glamour fashionist. To keep the males occupied, try Him on Damen Ave. Him offers male shoppers an extensive line of clothing as well as an enjoyable game of Foosball.

The Great Chicago Fire in 1871 destroyed most of the buildings and homes around this area. When the residents began to rebuild, they used bricks and stone to create spectacular architectural homes. However, in the 1980′s, these homes were split into separate apartments and boarding homes. Today, these buildings are being bought and restored to the immaculate single family homes that they were originally built as. This is known to be a very affordable area and is home to many college students and young adults, as well as young professionals. As more and more businesses are being built and open on a daily basis, more and more people are proud to call Bucktown home.
