Lincoln Square Chicago

Lincoln Square Chicago has a barrage of names for its various communities. Officially dubbed Lincoln Square in 1925 it takes in the surroundings communities of Ravenswood Gardens, Bowmansville, Budlongwoods, Ravenswood, and Lincoln Square itself. This lovely old neighborhood with its European influence is very family oriented. Although it is very much a part of the big city of Chicago the Brown Line that crosses the streets of the Lincoln Square neighborhood gives it a local feel. The Lincoln Square streets are filled with shops and the side walk café’s give a very relaxed, close neighborhood feeling. Lincoln Square is filled with reminders that this was once an area of Chicago populated by people of German decent.

The Chicago fire certainly had an effect on Lincoln Square, unable to afford the brick and mortar required to have a hoe in the city many bought property in the Lincoln Square area of Chicago away from the stipulations of the city building codes and built homes. Wood houses were not allowed in the city and a large group of people made a mass exit to the Lincoln Square area bringing, major growth to the neighborhood. Lincoln Square bordered on the east by the Chicago River is drawing visitors from all over with its quaint neighborhood demeanor.

Lincoln Square is an area filled with homes from a different era, houses made of wood and stone surround the area speaking to a time when things did not run at the speed of the Bullet trains of Europe. Homes built by skilled craftsman with pride in the architecture, a signature of Chicago still today. Lincoln Square is a city with easy access to the city at large making it a great place to come home to. Filled with restaurants and shop, that holds a special place in the development in the continuity of the area. Lincoln Square Chicago holds a strong root in the past but allows new growth for the future.
