Roscoe Village is a neighborhood located on the near northwest side of Chicago. Located on the western end of the Lakeview community area, Roscoe Village is a quite residential neighborhood in the middle of the conveniences of the city. Its boundaries are Damen on the east, Belmont on the south, the Chicago River on the West, and Addison on the north. It is comprised of mainly single family homes, with some multi family three flat units along Damen and Addison. It is centrally located, close to Wrigley Field, the lake, and many parks and other recreational areas.
Roscoe Village is relatively small in area compared to some other neighborhoods in Chicago and has an abundance of single family homes, especially between Wood St. on the east and Western Ave on the west. Some of these homes have been converted into two flats, and there are also newly constructed town homes on the eastern edge of the neighborhood. Further west, along Western Avenue, is a cluster of retail shops, with two grocery stores and a pharmacy, among other conveniences. Along Roscoe Avenue there are some very nice buildings with preserved historic fronts, making a quaint setting for the annual children’s Halloween Parade.
Roscoe Village is located a mile to the west of Wrigleyville, one of the most popular entertainment areas on the north side. It is only a five minute drive from great bars, restaurants and of course, historic Wrigley Field. But residents shouldn’t overlook the choices found in Roscoe Village itself. Most of the dining and drinking establishments focused near Roscoe and Damen, but there a few other choices on Addison and Belmont as well. Turquoise Café is a classy restaurant located on Roscoe Avenue near Leavitt, and serves up great Turkish, Greek, and Italian inspired fare. Further east on Roscoe the Village Tap is a local favorite. It features over a dozen beers on tap and another fifty or so in bottles, with picnic table seating for the summer. South of Roscoe, near Clybourn and Belmont, is 90 Miles Cuban Café. It features a great café Cubano to go along with some of the best Cuban sandwiches in Chicago.
Located near the Brown Line and the Kennedy, Roscoe Village is easily accessible to other neighborhoods in Chicago. It strikes a good balance between urban convenience and excitement and a small town, ‘at home’ feeling.
