West Loop Chicago

The West Loop neighborhood was once a large manufacturing corridor but over the past 15 years has quickly become trendy residential community. Many of the West Loop Chicago residents reside within old manufacturing facilities which have been converted into loft style condominiums. While housing prices in the West Loop are more than the city average, they are still considered quite affordable when compared to other Chicago neighborhoods.

West Loop Chicago

Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood is bordered by the Kennedy Expressway to the east, Ashland Avenue to the west, the Eisenhower Expressway to the south, and Grand Avenue to the north. The West Loop is located near many other neighborhoods including Greektown, University Village, Little Italy, and Tri Taylor.

West Loop residents benefit from many amenities, the first of which is access to the Chicago Loop. Located just a mile from the loop, many West Loop residents are able to walk to their office jobs in less than 15 minutes. Other residents opt to take one of the many bus lines which enter the loop via Madison Avenue and Monroe Street. Residents are also located near two major expressways which provide easy access to all of the Chicago metropolitan area.

While the West Loop is still a developing neighborhood, it still has many cultural and entertainment options available to its residents. Randolph Street and Madison Avenue in the West Loop hold many popular bars and restaurants. There are also various local boutiques in the same area. New restaurants and shops seem to pop up in the West Loop everyday.

There are many other entertainment options available to West Loop residents. Randolph Street holds multiple street festivals each summer which bring in local musicians and artists. The Museum of Holography, which is relatively unknown by Chicago residents is located within the West Loop. Also, Harpo Studios, home of the Oprah Winfrey show is located in the West Loop. As the neighborhood continues to evolve, the West Loop is sure to bring in more amenities to their residents.
