Wicker Park Chicago

Wicker Park is a neighborhood located in the West Town community area. The neighborhood is a desirable place to live for city commuters and young people. Traditionally Wicker Park Chicago was an industrial area with factories that have now become modern lofts available for rent or sale. The area has had a significant influx of bars, restaurants and other entertainment venues over the past few years. Wicker Park is home to many recent college graduates and white collar workers.

One of the most significant draws to Wicker Park is its proximity to entertainment. It is often called the “vanguard of music, nightlife and fashion” and has much to offer its residents as well as visitors. The main strip through town, North Milwaukee Ave, is littered with bars and restaurants and home to many trendy clothing boutiques. The food is distinctly Eastern European due to its heavy Ukrainian and Polish influences, however, modern Wicker Park has a diverse selection of restaurants for any taste. There is no shortage of drinking venues in Wicker Park. It is home to dozens of bars from the traditional hole in the wall to ultra trendy night clubs.

The ‘Around the Coyote Festival’ is a twice a year independent art festival which draws artists from around the city. It occurs every winter and fall right off Milwaukee Ave; it is a huge collection of art, music and theater. There is no shortage of beer and home cooked food, either.

There is also easy access to public transportation within Wicker Park. Several bus lines serve the area, many of which run all night. The CTA Blue Line stops at Damen Station which is located in central Wicker Park. The area’s easy commute in to down town Chicago is one of the aspects which make it such a desirable place to live. Wicker Park may seem to have a rough appearance, but its well regarded as one of Chicago’s most desirable places to live.
