Home to Wrigley Field and the Chicago Cubs baseball team, this unique neighborhood centers itself around all things sports-related.
With the number of bars and pubs around the area, game days are never in short supply – be it baseball, football, or any sport, there is always something going on in the community. Sports establishment are in vast majority in Wrigleyville. And it’s no wonder; the larger part of the resident population is under 30 years of age.
Bordered on the north by Byron Street, the east by Halsted Street, the south by Roscoe Street, and the west by Ashland Avenue, Wrigleyville is easily accessible via public transportation and lies only four miles from the Chicago Loop.
While the community is largely populated by young college students, it does not suffer from unsafe conditions or vandalism. Just a block or so outside the shopping district are tree-trimmed streets with beautifully designed homes from all different architectural tastes. Because it’s so close to the Loop, housing prices are notably inexpensive compared to other neighborhoods of the same regard.
Wrigleyville is one of the most sought-after pieces of real estate, and also one of the most populated due to its exceptional dining and nightlife. Several well-received restaurants line the streets, including Bar Louie, Tuscany and Clark, and Ethiopian Village – which boasts exotic tastes for the more adventurous connoisseur of foods.
Music and the theater are also established aspects of Wrigleyville. Unique takes on the performing arts have surfaced, such as The Music Box Theater – a movie house known for its intricate design that dates back to its foundations in the 1920’s – and The Improv Olympic – an improvisational theater that is largely dependent on audience participation. Many of the pubs double as concert venues during the later hours, some with shows seven days of the week.
Wrigleyville is a loving community with a strong sense of spirit for sports and for the sports team that calls their neighborhood home as well.
